Starting up with Capital One Login
Logging in to your Capital One accounts is easy, but getting started with login is a little more complex. If you’re already a user, skip straight down and find out how to sign into your account. Logging in with Touch ID
If you have an iPhone, you can use your fingerprint to access your Capital One account quickly and securely. To use Touch ID, simply touch your finger on your phone’s home button, which is located on the bottom of your device. Once you press down for a second or two, you will see a message that says Enter Passcode. This is just a way of double-checking that it really is you who wants in — no one else can just come along and unlock your phone with their own fingerprint! From there, enter in your password as usual. If everything checks out correctly and it really is you who wants in (your device should recognize when multiple fingers are trying to gain access), then congratulations!
Logging out of the app
If you’re logged into your Capital One account on an app and want to sign out, simply tap Logout at the bottom of your screen. Logging out will keep your information secure while allowing you to open other accounts from other apps or browsers.
Sharing your card details with others
When you share your card details with others, it makes it easier for them to make purchases or cash withdrawals using your account. You are also liable for any purchases they make or any money they withdraw without your permission. If a card is lost or stolen, it’s important that you report it as soon as possible – you can do so on our website here. You should also change all of your account details if you have shared them with someone else.
Two-step verification
If you don’t already have two-step verification set up on your account, you should consider enabling it. This extra layer of security provides another way for you to verify your identity if someone is trying to log in as you. To do so, go into your Account Settings page and select Security. Enable Two-Step Verification by following these instructions.
Creating an account through Facebook
The fastest way to create a new account is through Facebook. Once you are logged into your Facebook account, simply click Sign Up on our website and follow along. You can use your existing email address or enter one while signing up. If you don’t have an email address, no worries! Just enter your phone number in place of an email address and we will send you a text message with a link to verify your phone number. That’s it!
What if I forget my password?
If you have forgotten your password, you will need to reset it. Click here for instructions on how to do so. If you have not used your account in a long time, it is possible that we may need additional information from you before we can reset your password. You will receive an email providing instructions on how to reset your account when you sign in. Be sure that any junk or spam mail filters are set up correctly or our emails may not reach you.
